Blessings

Choose one wish and give it a destination in a great wall of rock. At Geibikei, fortune balls are thrown toward a small opening in the Great Geibi Rock near the boat journey's turning point. Different balls stand for hopes such as wealth, love, connection and longevity.

Which would you choose today? Think about the kind of abundance you want to build, a relationship you would like to welcome or a love you want to nurture. Settle on one intention. The calm river and high rock walls give that little wish a dramatic setting, turning the landscape into something you can engage with rather than simply admire.

How to invite good fortune

Open the operator's official introduction and follow the river toward the Great Geibi Rock. Take a slow breath and choose the hope that feels closest to you now. Put it into a short sentence you can remember.

At the site, visitors choose a fortune ball associated with their wish and aim it toward the rock's hole. In your online visit, follow the rock and the target with your eyes, giving your own intention time to settle. Spend the final minute quietly with the river scenery. Add your arrival stamp at the end. Keep today's chosen wish in mind as you return to your plans, carrying one clear hope rather than a whole crowded list.

Origins and history

The name Geibikei points to a rock shaped like a lion's nose. That projecting feature gives the gorge a memorable character, while the names of other rocks turn the passing scenery into a series of encounters.

The Satetsu River carved the gorge through limestone. High cliffs rise above calm water, and boatmen steer with a single pole. Their local song, Geibi Oiwake, is another part of the journey, a human voice carrying through the space between the rocks.

Against that great scale, the little fortune balls feel particularly personal. Their characters give a choice to hopes for wealth, love or connection. Looking closely, listening and choosing a target bring different kinds of attention together. That is what makes Geibikei such an engaging destination for a wish-making journey.
